Artist's Comments

I've been thinking for a while now that I'd like to work on an Inuyasha comic thing, but haven't been able to figure out who or what or why.

I made an OC (Modern era clothes found here) and the idea of a direction to take the story, but I've really started turning down a different path for ideas now.

Here we have Shippo all, or mostly, grown up. Certainly an adult and quite worldly by now. Even a bit dark. I'm thinking someone very important was killed at some point, which left him in a very bad personal place.

As he got older, still travelling with Inuyasha and the gang, Miroku taught him what he knew of being a monk, and so Shippo himself performs exorcisms and protection spells using sutras and the like.

His sword is some very powerful thing, of course. Whose isn't? And the wrapping around his chest and what you can see of his upper arm is an ittan-momen, a fabric like creature that flies through the air and smothers people in their sleep. Not overly friendly in that sense, but I've got some non-traditional ideas for its use here.

I've considered the possibility that his robe there is actually either entirely or made from the robe of Sojobo, the king of the tengu, which is supposed to be enchanted. The only problem I've run into is a total lack of elaboration as to what, exactly, makes the robes so darn enchanted, so I guess it gives me creative licence to do as I please. =D

So there you have it. Basically all that I've come up with where Shippo is concerned. He's kind of a badass now. ^_^

Feel free to colour, but note me and link back to me in the deviation when you're done.

*EDIT*
I kind of hate my line work on this one. Messy messy messy. I'll probably either straight colour him with pencils, or re-line in photoshop. Whichever I think will take less overall effort I think.

Very cool idea. Line art is good however his torso seems a bit too short(or is that b/c he has more of an animal form than human? or its' just the pose)
